Is for a Toyota 15TD engine normal to have some smoke comming out of the dipstick hole?

I am seeking to buy a car and I found a Toyota Corolla with a 15 Turbo Diesel engine. What i noticed is that when I took out the dipstick after a good run and wit hthe engine still running, a bit of white smoke started getting out. is this normal or could there be an engine fault? Is for a Toyota 15TD engine normal to have some smoke comming out of the dipstick hole? It's not normal.

When a smoke comes out from a dipstick, it means that the compression and combustion inside our cylinder is leaking through the piston rings. Try to see on the breather hose, surely white smoke is exiting there.

Some of your piston rings are already worn out and needs replacement.

Replace it as soon as possible. Failure to do so can damage more the components inside of your engine. Your engine oil thickens and does failure to lubricate the main bearings, conn. rod bearings, Oil pump, Cam shaft journals, crankshaft journals, Rockers and shaft and the valves.

Don't wait until your engine knocks. The longer you take it for granted, the bigger the pain in the pocket. Is for a Toyota 15TD engine normal to have some smoke comming out of the dipstick hole? You could remove the engine's air filter and see if there's a lot of wet oil and grime buildup on the filter and inside the filter housing (backing up from the excessive crankcase pressure). Of course the owner may know there's a problem and could have just changed to a brand new (clean) air filter. Excessive crank case gases could be due to engine wear and other reasons, so you might have a cylinder compression test done on the engine. A gasoline engine has a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve and system for sucking the gases out of the crankcase and recycling them into the engine intake manifold to be reburned. See if your engine has some sort of PCV system that needs servicing.

Finally, ask a Toyota dealer's shop whether some smoke is typically seen coming out of the oil dipstick tube and is normal or not. Have the car inspected before you buy it at the Toyota dealer. They charge the same for State inspections as any other garage and know Toyota vehicles best. I would also be concerned about expensive repairs sometimes necessary on the turbo itself. Is for a Toyota 15TD engine normal to have some smoke comming out of the dipstick hole?Piston rings do NOT make a perfect seal and in any engine there is a small amount of blow by. I would think a SMALL amount of smoke coming out of the dipstick tube with the dipstick removed while the engine running is normal. I would not be concerned unless there is an oil consumption problem.

Why are you removing the dipstick with the engine running? Is for a Toyota 15TD engine normal to have some smoke comming out of the dipstick hole?
It's normal on engines that have some miles on them. It doesn't necessarily mean the engine is worn out. Take off the oil cap with the engine running, if you can see or feel more than a tiny trickle of air/smoke blowing out, that is a good indicator the engine is worn.
