Newly overhauled Toyota diesel engine with newly calibrated injection pump emits white and black smoke, why?

It's a Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40-newly overhauled diesel engine with newly calibrated injection pump emits white smoke when idling and black smoke on acceleration and runs hot, why is this so?

If the exhaust has a strong odor that burns the eyes,it's fuel.Some motors will always do this until warmed up.

Black smoke is from burned fuel.It happens when the motor is under heavy load and doesn't always mean something is wrong.

Pale blue smoke indicates crankcase oil being consumed.This could be from the rings not worn in yet.Newly overhauled Toyota diesel engine with newly calibrated injection pump emits white and black smoke, why?Not remanufactured. While you intended to make it run like new you just scratched the surface. Valve guides? No new pistons? only recalibrated the injection pump? Either unmetered oil is leaking past a worn set of injectors or engine oil is doing the same thing. And with out the proper hone job on the cyls the rings might never seal.
