That is a transverse mounted V6. Consumer wise, if you can get that thing done for 800 to 1000 dollars, I would get it over there immediately before the guy changes his mind. That's a dual overhead cam engine and I have a feeling that someone may not have realized that giving such an inexpensive quote, although I realize even that is a lot of money. In my opinion $1200 would be more than fair. I would like to note that there is a good likelihood that a new timing belt will be warranted with the repair unless it has been replaced within the past 40,000 miles. It's a huge belt you see, the bigger they are the easier that they will stretch.

You could do it yourself inside of a garage but you'll need to have some room to work. Providing that you have everything needed you could open the garage door after about $200. It's more than just the gasket kit. You have coolant (never re-use burnt coolant),oil, filter, possibly a few dollars in hardware, maybe a belt or a serpentine belt (your vehicle uses both); this stuff adds up. There is one service note that might be worthwhile to add which is to not breach the hydraulic circuit for your cooling fan. Your cooling fan strange as it may seem is driven hydraulically by the power steering pump. Rather bizarre, but it is what it is.How much would it cost to get a blown head gasket fixed on a 96 toyota camry? If its a 4cyl, $800 at my shops. That includes new timing belt, water pump and tensioner and new seals.. If it's 6cyl, and both heads need to be done, $1200. Again, includes the timing belt job. We don't just pop in a new head gasket. The head is sent out for testing and machining.
Your looking at around 1500.buck if the head isn't bad . On those aluminum head you really need to replace the head bolts when you replace a head gasket , because the bolts will stretch and not pull back down to seal , it could cost you another head gasket. How much would it cost to get a blown head gasket fixed on a 96 toyota camry?anywhere from 800-1000 bucks ,and that's if they don't have to replace the head on it,those are expensive to work on,you should be able to get it done for about 800 most anywhere though, good luck. How much would it cost to get a blown head gasket fixed on a 96 toyota camry?
anywhere from 1350 to 2200 bucks depending if they can reuse the same heads again after resurfacing them in order to install the head gasket ( you must send the heads out to get resurfaced no matter what in order to install head gaskets)
Call around to local garages for quotes, do not take it to the dealer, they will charge you an arm and a leg.How much would it cost to get a blown head gasket fixed on a 96 toyota camry?
