How do I fix the timing on my 1993 Toyota Pickup?

I put a new distributor on my 1993 Toyota Pickup and now the timing is off and it wont start..need a little helpHow do I fix the timing on my 1993 Toyota Pickup?this is assuming the wires are in the correct firing order,

need to find TDC on *compression* stroke. then get the distributor on the same page.

so pull the #1 plug. out your finger in the hole. turn crank counter clockwise till your finger pops out. move crank to TDC. remove distributor cap. the rotor should point to the #1 plug hole on the cap. if not pull the housing just enough to index the rotor and shaft. do not turn the housing. reinstall plug and cap.

here's info on the how to of timing.

prolly still off a tooth or two on the rotor. advanced. pull housing, don't turn housing, slip rotor counter clockwise a tooth or two. if she gets worse go the other way till she stops popping. then jump your terminals and hit it with the light.
