Do toyota celicas (2000 and up) have a lot of mechanical problems?

I am thinking about buying a 2002 toyota celica but I am not familiar with Toyota's at all. I am wondering if they have mechanical problems and if there are constant problems. Or any other information you can give me would be helpful as well.Do toyota celicas (2000 and up) have a lot of mechanical problems?Nope they are very reliable.

The guy complaining about sludge problem was extremely rare and didnt even occur in the celicas. The only known issue with a celica is that the 2000-2002 gt models a few have an oil issue where they burn a little oil.

The 2000-2002 also have polycarbonate sunroofs which means they scratch easy but doesnt affect it mechanically. They changed the shift gates in the 2003 (only applies to the gt-s 6 speeds) to make them wider b/c little punk kids that dont know how to drive would miss gears and spin bearings and ruin the tranny.

they are great cars and very low cost maintenance. Just routine stuff like keeping the oil changed, air filters, and belts. They have timing chains so you dont have to worry bout that.Do toyota celicas (2000 and up) have a lot of mechanical problems?no ! toyotas are the most reliable cars you can buy and a Celica is a great little sports car far a young women . Wish I'd never got rid of mine :( Was the most reliable car I have ever owned and barely cost me anything in terms of servicing or parts.
Open your favorite Internet search page. Search for "Toyota sludge" without the quotes. The engine in this car is a POS.
