Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?

I was driving down the Ohio Turnpike with my cruise set at 70mph and almost hit a Toyota Pirus in the *** because it was only going about 50mph.These shouldn't be allowed on the Turnpike if they can't travel at a safe speed. What is the top speed of it?How could anyone ride in a death trap like that?My Dodge Ram has a Hemi in it and I was getting 21mpg on the Turnpike and I was very happy with my gas mileage.Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?I was in a car pool with one and I've seen it hit 95 mph! and had some left. He ran it with the cruise set at 75 all the time and still averaged 46 mpg, so I've seen the light!

So it must have been the drivers choice to go slow, they have clubs where they try to get maxium mpg out of them, sometimes hitting 80-90 mpg, which I agree can be dangerous in certain circumstances.

I also believe large pickups and trucks should be regulated to 60 mph because they can do so much damage when they hit someone. also their drivers should take the same test as big rig drivers before allowed to take the responibility of such a large vehicleShould Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?
I think they should be banned just because they are butt ugly.Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?Do some research. Drivers do make a difference. Some idiots like to travel only 50 in a Corvette...Does that mean that the Corvette's top speed is 50...no... Some people actually care about the environment. That is why they buy hybrids...
Glad your happy..... (:%26gt;)]

Sorry it's only got a Hemi.. (:%26gt;(]

Now get that Junk Hemi outta my way, cause it's Slowing us down!!Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?Yes, a Prius should be allowed to be driven on the Turnpike. They can go over 50mph if the driver pushes on the gas a little harder. Also, for those of YOU who drive bigger vehicles and like to go 80 watch the drivers that go slower. If you are alert you can easily drive around the slower drivers. I hate it when someone gets on my *** and then slows down as if I popped out of nowhere. By the way, im also a fast driver. I seldome do under 70 on any freeway. But some people think that everyone should only be allowed to go 5mph less then them, or they have the right to ride the bumper. Come on, learn to deal with your enviroment. 1 out of 20 cars drive really slow. This problem is not going to go away.Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?
First of all, it's a Prius, not Pirus.

And it doesn't have to do with the car, it has to do with the driver. If they were in the fast lane, they should have moved over. You could have been paying closer attention as well.

By the way, a modified Prius has the record for top speed for a hybrid; it hit 130 on the Bonneville Salt Flats experiments.

A production car can go up to about 100 mph.
I don't think 70 is the limit; you were in the wrong, my friend. The Prius is permitted to operate on any public thoroughfare as it is more than capable of attaining most speed limits. Next time, slow down..especially if you're coming up behind another vehicle. Thanks for the two points!Should Toyota Pirus be allowed on the Turnpike? How could you ride in a death trap?
I have driven a prius (my parents own one) and they are more than capable to travel 100 if you wanted to. I also drive fast and have gone 75 with no problem on highways. The question is not about the car, but about the driver. You shouldnt assume it's the car just because it is small. Do you really think they would make a car that couldn't go over 50? Then what would we need police for...
never underestimate the speed a car can travel. a slow car driven hard still goes fast.

but i do agree with you. slow drivers should be run off the road. especially when in the fast lane.
