It usually hits 3,000ish RPM when I acclerate mid throttle from a stop but my friend who drives a 1999 Toyota Camry usually hits 4,000-5,000 RPMs on acceleration. It shouldn't really matter as long as you aren't in the red. Of course you wouldn't want to spin your tires either, so don't go too hard.
