How much to replace timing chain on 2000 Toyota Corolla LE?

I'm wondering how much it should cost to replace the timing chain (it is a timing chain and not a timing belt, right?) on my 2000 Toyota Corolla LE 4 Cyl 1.8 Liter. Also, how many miles are you supposed to replace the timing chain?

Thanks! How much to replace timing chain on 2000 Toyota Corolla LE?And you know you need a new timing chain and sprockets because? Is it loose? Is it noisy? How did you check it? Normally a timing chain will last 350,000 - 500,000 miles.

You're driving a Toyota not some POC (piece of crap) Nissan. How much to replace timing chain on 2000 Toyota Corolla LE?To replace a timing chain or belt requires removing a lot of components... so besides the price of a new chain and components...anywhere from $40 to $100 or so... labor alone would be roughly 2 to 4 hours and most shops charge anywhere from $70 to $150 per hour give or take... I would ballpark the entire repair at around $600 more or less. It's really difficult to give a more accurate price because it depends on where you go to get it done.

Generally, timing chains/belts should be replaced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles depending on the vehicle manufacturers recommendations, which you can find in your owners manual... if you still have it. If not, then contact Toyota for that information.
