What is the general cost of replacing a heater core in a 1990 Toyota Camry DX?

Apparently the heater core in my 1990 Toyota Camry has given up the ghost. (At over 230K miles, no wonder!). However, the CV joint on my car has also started to give up the ghost. What I would like to know is, how much in general am I looking at when considering replacing a heater core, and which repair should I concentrate more on--the heater core or the CV joint? What is the general cost of replacing a heater core in a 1990 Toyota Camry DX?Based on the vehicle being equipped with air conditioning then about $550.00. this estimate is based on $79.00 per hour labor, a napa heater core, and one gallon of green antifreeze. To help you get a better idea of cost for your area the labor time based on Mitchell's time and labor guide is 5 hours if the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning or 3.9 hours without. Find out the labor rate of the shop you're going to take it to and you will get a better idea. If you are replacing the heater core it would be wise to have the coolant system flushed too.

The c.v. axle or the heater core? well depends on the leakage from the core. If leaking a lot then do the cooling system first because if you overheat you have a chance of damaging the engine. If the core is a minor leak and you can top of your coolant occasionally then do the axle. If the axle fails it could leave you stranded.
