Has the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?

Every other car I see on the road is Toyota. The government tried very hard to smear Toyota as a failed car. Now even the Toyota website doesn't mention anything about recall. The recall story just faded away as soon as Toyota paid $16 million fine. So was the campaign done only to get $16 million? Isn't that suspicious?Has the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?the recall campaign failed miserably. Toyota is back to making huge profits and just announced $1.2 billion profit in the latest quarter. They continue making revenue at the pace of $205 billion an year, making it at one of the top 10 largest revenue corporations in the world. I personally think it was all about the $16 million fine. The fine was paid and the story faded awayHas the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?
It was Toyota that made the recalls, and they were fined by the government for failing to alert the Department of Transportation about the safety problems in a timely manner. The government never ordered any recalls.

Toyota also dropped in surveys of consumers. The company responded with a massive media blitz and with incentives that brought in new car buyers.

The "campaign" as you call it, happened because a very large company was covering up safety problems, which is a violation of US law.Has the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?I feel sorry for Toyota. Someone made image of Toyota as very bad cruel dangerous car, so American cars can win the competition against Japanese cars. There is secret that GM and Chrysler's recall were much much higher numbers. It is obviously propaganda.Has the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?
the recall issue has been put to rest. Toyota made an official announcement that all recalled cars have been fixed and there exists no more car with unintended acceleration. No one disputed that statement. So the case is closedHas the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?huh?Has the Toyota recall campaign by government failed?
toyota recall is HISTORY. Toyota enemies now have nothing to point fingers at. I hope now toyota buries GM/Chrysler/Ford alive
yes toyota put many models on sale and the first month of the recall sold over 50% more cars then the year before. so they have money and do not fear Obama will take over toyota.

  • I am thinking of buying a used car and wonder what would be better? A used Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Corolla?

The cars would be either 2006-07. I am looking for good gas mileage, reliability, and affordability. I also want a car that is decent in rainy weather. I bought a Toyota Echo and it stinks in that area. Was also thinking about the Suzuki SX4 cause I think they're cute, but not too sure either.I am thinking of buying a used car and wonder what would be better? A used Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Corolla?coralla all the way. i have an 04 corolla and it is the best car ever! very safe ( i have been in 2 major wrecks in it and have not been hurt at all), the car is now about 90% replacement parts. good gas mileage, goes good in snow, very reliable.I am thinking of buying a used car and wonder what would be better? A used Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Corolla?personally i think sentras have a nice look to themI am thinking of buying a used car and wonder what would be better? A used Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Corolla? All else being equal, I would go with the Corolla (assuming it's been taken care of and the oil changed regularly and not abused). Those things can go forever.I am thinking of buying a used car and wonder what would be better? A used Nissan Sentra or a Toyota Corolla?
The corolla gives you better gas mileage. The Sentra is decent. Don't know much about the Suzuki SX4. Most Japanese made Suzuki's are reliable. Korean made re badged cars sold under the Suzuki name plate are not. If it don't have a J on the start of the VIN it ain't Suzuki. Just do some research before you buy. Most manufactures have re badged cars and sold them as their own. Chevrolet, Geo, Honda, Isuzu, Pontiac,Ford ,Mazda and now Suzuki.

When you talk about the Echo , you have to remember they come with smaller thinner tires. If you upgrade to wider/bigger tire they will give you a better ride. The maybe you can keep it and save some money

Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three?

They all have factories in the US, so why isn't UAW unionizing Toyota et al and bleed them dry they way they've ruined GM, Chrysler and Ford? Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three? The UAW is their own worst enemy there is no doubt, but greed, egos and poor management have also bled the big 3 dry.

If we build it they will buy it, what other choice do they have

Cheaper, find a way to build it cheaper

As long as it lasts long enough to get through the warranty period

We want them to need/want to trade every 4 years

We can build it cheaper in Mexico

    Profits, profits, profits, profits, profits

Pass the costs along to the buyers

Not until the government forces it

Outsource it to a cheaper labor environment

These are just some of the attitudes management has projected.

The materials and technology are available to build a 20 year half million mile vehicle, they are just repressed. Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three?
You've partially answered your own question.

The Big 3 (GM,Chrysler %26amp; Ford) are American car companies. That means that they are both headquartered in the United States and that is where most of their vehicles are made.

Foreign car companies such as Toyota, have established some U.S. factories but originally their vehicles were made overseas in the same countries where they are headquartered.Yes, the larger foreign car companies have established headquarters in the U.S. but this is just to make meetings with U.S. unions, suppliers, dealers, advertising ,etc. easier. The orders still come from the company's main headquarters outside the U.S.

As a result of all this different parts of the legal code apply.

For the Big Three the section of the legal code that applies is that regarding Domestic ( American based) companies.

For the foreign care companies the section of the legal code that applies is that regarding how the unions get to deal with foreign companies that employ the union's workers.

The second factor to consider is how long has each of the foreign car companies had plants in the United States compared to the Big 3 ?

I suggest you go to the website for each car company you are interested in and get the information. Then draw a graph to compare how long each has had plants in the United States.

Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three? The employees at Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, etc... make good money so the unions are not needed. Mercedes in Alabama tops out at about 27.00 an hour, family med insurance is less than 200.00 a month, they get Christmas bonuses from 3000 - 6000 every year, get a 100.00 a month bonus if they show up for work every day that month, they close, for Christmas, for about a week and a half (with pay). If they voted the union in all of that would become a negotiated benefit.

Once a year they have a drawing and the winner gets a brand new Mercedes to use for a year.

With all that going on who in their right mind would vote in a union? Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three?
    They have.

Do not think the UAW heads have not thought the "foreign" plants are are not a nice cash cow to collect union dues from!

But, when these "foreign" plant workers hold votes, UAW is voted DOWN!

So, if you are thinking this is a "domestic" manufacturer digging its own grave, you are pretty much right. Why doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three?most of their plants are located in the south which down there they have not so strict union rules and stuff. and the union originated in the north anyway back around the time of the industrial Revolution which was mostly taking place in the north. about the early 1900'sWhy doesn't UAW go after Toyota and other foreign car companies they way they go after the Big Three?
Gawd Knows, the unions have tried. But if you were an employee at one of these plants and knew the history of the UAW would you want them at your door. They have been booted out of almost every facility that they have tried to recruit at.
the big three had all that happen with the unions over the last several decades to get this way. Toyota only recently got in the states.

Toyota Camry more luxurious and expensive than acura?

I bought a Toyota Camry XLE which is more expensive and luxurious than the Acura TSX or RSX. Why is it so? I thought Acura was supposed to be more luxurious and expensive?Toyota Camry more luxurious and expensive than acura? The RSX isn't being made anymore and it was pretty much a more refined Civic. The TSX is a European Accord. Fully loaded yall will have about the same features. The same thing applies with the Camry and the Lexus ES. Besides more sound deadening they are largely the same car. When you start hitting the TL and RL thats where the distinction comes from.

Brake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla?

I'm having a problem with my 94 Toyota Corolla: my brake lights don't work -- I checked the fuse, it was blown, so I replaced it. As soon as I hit the brakes the fuse blows again before my very eyes. I tried changing the brake light switch under the pedal and it does the same thing so my current switch is good. I took my radio out to make sure there were no bare wires causing a short -- nothing there.

Also, my automatic shift wont move out of park unless I use the emergency release.

Any help would be great! Thanks!Brake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla? You have a short in the brake light wiring. DO NOT install a larger amp fuse than called for unless you want to make the situation worse by burning up your wiring. Take it to a good shop. They can locate and fix the problem quickly.Brake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla?
Check to make sure you have the correct bulbs. Next try using a higher rated fuse increasing in 5AMP increments. Buy a box of multi rated fuses for probably no more then 5 bucks.Brake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla?bring it in to an auto electrician or mech.Brake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla?
well you might be putting the wrong fuse in it, double check to make sure what amperage fuse you need(not what fuse was already in it!) than if it doesnt work get a lerger am fuse and drop in it to see if it still does it, if yoru having trouble putting it into drive and the bigger fuse doesnt fix it, soudn sto me liek a brake switch but i donnoBrake Light fuse keeps blowing when I press brakes on my 94 Toyota Corolla?you have a bad ground some where between the brake lights ant the fuse, have fun hunting it down.......and just so you will know, stop spending money on fuses you have to repair the problem where its at because if you don't you will just keep going through fuses.

I have a 6600 toyota serger. its an 1988 model and its a 3%26amp;4 thread overlock and i dont know how to thread it. Im looking for someone to point me to a web site that will show me step by step. if anyone knows of such a site please point me in the right direction. Thanks for your timeHow do i thread a Toyota 6600 sewing machine? These sounds like a serger and not a sewing machine.

Open the door on the front of the machine and see if there is a threading guide.

http://www.expertvillage.com/video/12357鈥?/a>How do i thread a Toyota 6600 sewing machine?http://www.sewtoyota.com/contact.php can probably get you the threading diagram and manual.

I also highly recommend that you join one or more serger groups for help in learning to operate (not just thread) the machine unless you're already proficient at serger operation. There's just enough of a learning curve for sergers that they can be difficult to learn entirely on your own.

Where can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?

I have a 1986 toyota supra 3.0, it has the stock flip up headlights, i am looking to convert the flip up into the stationary headlights, i have seen them before on other cars but cant locate where to buy or even view for that matter, if anyone could locate a site online with pics and prices that would be awesome, thanks in advance.Where can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?I've owned 5 MKIIIs and I was never able to find anywhere that sold a headlight conversion kit... i know what you mean; I think it looks a lot sleeker with them down... I'm not sure if they offer anything like that for the older Supras though. The only one I ever come across is for the 3rd gen RX-7s. You could try asking on SOGI (Supra owners site) and maybe someone on there would be able to help you.

EDIT: They do not have the headlight conversion at Suprastore.com, trust me, I have lived on that website (an many other Supra sites)... they do (I believe) sell the HID headlight conversion, and perhaps the different shaped headlights (circles as opposed to the squares) but that's about it.Where can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?http://www.andysautosport.com/ not sure if it has it here thoughWhere can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?I have a MKIII now go to www.suprastore.comWhere can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?

How do you like your Toyota Yaris?

I am looking for a new car, I was looking into the Toyota Yaris. I just really want the opinion of what the drive is like on a highway from someone who now owns, or has owned one in the past. Any other major pros and cons you would like to add would be great! How do you like your Toyota Yaris?well in highway it will be a little noisy as any car with small engine it cruises with the rpm around 3000 but its fun and quick, the spedometer is in the middle it will take u a couple of days to get used to it. i don't own one but a rent alot and i always ask for it. personaly i like the design and in my opinion it has the best cup holder ever in right place. How do you like your Toyota Yaris?well i don't own one, but from driving my sisters yaris for over a year now i can say that its a good car but the highway can be a problem you hear a lot of road noise and its not very quick and the safety rateing isnt too good cause of its size. good gas mileage, i would say its more of a city commuter then a highway car. i would suggest getting a toyota matrix because its bigger, safer and gets about the same gas mileage. but up to you.How do you like your Toyota Yaris?I love mine. I average 43 mpg, and have hit 52-53 mpg before. It's a fun car to drive. Very nimble. However, in its stock ride height, it catches the cross winds on the freeway (tall ground clearance plus light weight). I lowered mine and don't feel it as much. You can search throughout www.yarisworld.com/forums for all of my threads, and other peoples' experiences. My name is "Kaotic Lazagna" there on YarisWorld.

Oh, and I have a 2007 sedan S. Since then, more things have come standard on them. The 2010 comes with three additional features stock, TPMS, VSC, and one other feature that I can't remember off the top of my head.

After how many miles should you change a timing belt on a toyota?

I want to get a 2003 toyota celica. It has 63800..is the timing belt okay?the owner has nver had problems with itAfter how many miles should you change a timing belt on a toyota?Hi,

a 2003 Celica actually has a timing chain, not a belt. Timing belts were used up until the 1999 model when the switch was made for the 2000 and up models.

A timing chain is not replaced unless there is substantial engine wear/damage that causes the chain to become damaged. It is self-adjusting unit, you do not need to do anything with it.

If you have other maintenance concerns, check the maintenance logbook and owner's manual that came with the Celica or call a local Toyota dealership and ask to speak directly with the parts or service departments on service intervals. They should be able to provide you (at possibly a small cost) with a maintenance logbook for at least up to 100,000 miles if the Celica is missing it's logbook.

Good luck. After how many miles should you change a timing belt on a toyota?Usually the timing belt is replaced at the 60,000 to 100,000 mile mark. Check your maintenance schedule in the owner's manual to see what Toyota recommends. After how many miles should you change a timing belt on a toyota?usually between 40k and 60k miles.

if it breaks the cost will be a lot more.

How did Toyota become the largest importer of cars into North America?

In the 1960's they sold a few thousand cars and by 2009 they were outselling General Motors. How the heck did they pull that on off ? ?How did Toyota become the largest importer of cars into North America?Quality, and reliability lead to quantity.

I also love the new Chevy commercial which states that the new Impala is more luxurious than a Toyota Avalon....

What's the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla?

Does anybody know the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla? What's the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla?CE is the econ-version. LE is the luxury edition. The LE will have many more options as far as interior, sound and what have you. The CE is your basic plain Jane run of the mill car. What's the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla? On the 06 Corolla, the only differences are equipment. On the LE, you get a plusher interior, power windows and locks, color-keyed mirrors and door moldings (instead of black),cruise control and a few other minor features not even available on the CE. Also, you can get LE exclusive options like alloy wheels, leather upholstery or a sunroof (to name a few). Other than that, they are the same car. What's the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla?First off the Le is more expensive than the Ce. the Le can go well above 17,000 dollars. while the ce can go between 14-15,000 dollars. Then again, the Le has a lot more options that the Ce and I personally like the styling of the Le. There's no gray border between the doors. What's the difference between a "CE" and "LE" in a 2006 Toyota Corolla?
There are 3 versions of the 8th gen.

    VE= value edition.

    CE= classic (i think...) edition

    LE= luxury edition.

Main difference that I can think of right now.

features in LE not in CE

    better seat cloth

    optional ABS

    center armrest

    digital clock

    painted mirrors and mouldings

    blacked out window pillars

    optional foglights

    optional alloy wheels

    optional sunroof

    cruise control

My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?

The air temperature is between 25 and 45 degrees F when I start the car. I have changed the temperature sensor but it has not helped. The idle speed drops to about 750 after the engine is warmed up.My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?why would you scan it if there is no engine light on the dash? sounds like a normal startup routine. My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?
idle control valve probably. Could be a temperature sensor, but that is remote,My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong? This is actually not abnormal, but if you are seriously concerned, then you need to go to an ASE mechanic that knows how to read the diagnostic codes for the Toyotas. The air temp sensor may be faulty, and this is telling the ECU to cause the engine to rev higher than normal. My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?
its supposed to idle up sort of high then idle its self back down it should idle down in a few seconds,if its taking a while for it to idle down take it to auto zone and have the computer scanned to see if it has any trouble codes on it,that will tell you if you have a bad sensor or something causing this too happen, its not supposed to stay on fast idle for any longer than one minute, the scan is free, and will help in repairing it,good luck.My 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?idle air control valveMy 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS is idling at 1750 rpm when I first start the car. What could be wrong?
1750rpm is too high, even for a cold startup. It should be more like 1100-1200rpm. Have you done anything else to the tune side of things? Maybe you need to disconnect the battery to reset the Keep Alive Memory and let the computer go back to pre-programmed settings.

Also check for any vacuum leaks. You'll hear a hissing noise if a hose is left off or split.

ALL vehicles have recalls and service problems no matter what manufacturer. Toyota finally got its due from avoiding those rules over the years. Notice the US automakers had lots of recalls when Toyota (seemingly) had none. Now the playing field is being leveled. But, I like Toyota as much as ever and would compare their cars (made in the USA!) to any other car for future purchase. I also have gotten good service from Hyundai vehicles. In my opinion, ALL modern vehicles are very good compared to 35 year old carbureted vehicles that had no safety and emissions equipment to speak of.What do you think of your toyota before the problems they had with their new cars?I have never owned one because I learned how crappy they are while working on them. Toyota's recalls began with the 1965 Toyota Corona and nearly ever model since has been recalled. Toyota is currently at a 40% recall rate, that is worse than ANY other company including Yugo. What do you think of your toyota before the problems they had with their new cars?
I don't have a Camry, but I really want one. I like how they're fast and have decent mileage but don't sacrifice space or utility. I know half my family has them and they're all very happy with their Camrys.

Can I trade in a 1995 Toyota Corolla at a GM /Ford Chrysler dealer?

I want to trade-in my Toyota, and buy a Pontiac or a Chevy (or a Chrysler/Dodge). Do I have to go to a Toyota dealer or attempt to sell it as a private seller? Can I trade in a 1995 Toyota Corolla at a GM /Ford Chrysler dealer?yes you can trade it in.but first find out from Kelly's Blue Book how much it's worth as is. it make be worth your while selling it on your own. Alot is based off what dealer will give you for your trade...does it have high miles, is the motor/transmission in good condition,is there any frame damage, body damage, paint work, rust?? The dealer will more than likely take your car down to an auto auction if you trade it in. What kind of $ they decide to give you for it will be how much they think it will bring at auction. Auction prices are based on avability of car(is it a common car or hard to find), and the condition of the car. If they are gonna have to put $$ into it (brakes, exhaust) that will factor into the price too. It's mostly your call. see how much it's worth and how much they offer, and if it's close to the value thentrade it. if it less than value then sell it on your own for value or $100 over then use money as down payment for new car. Good luck and i hope this was helpful. Can I trade in a 1995 Toyota Corolla at a GM /Ford Chrysler dealer?

You can trade in any caar that has value to any dealer that excepts trades. If you look at the used car section of a Ford dealer or a GM dealer they will have cars of all types. Thye will likley not resell a car as old as yours themselves but they will sell it wholesale to smaller used car dealers.
Almost any dealership will accept trade ins of any make or model. You should be able to unless that particular one has a rule aginst it.Can I trade in a 1995 Toyota Corolla at a GM /Ford Chrysler dealer?
You can trade any car at any dealer....You have a better chance trading your car in. I know that where I live, there are several dealers who offer $3000 towards the purchase of a new car on a trade.
You are better off selling it at CarMax. There it is a separate transaction from the new purchase. Take it in and have them write it up. The price is goof for a few days and a few hundred miles. Then go to Gm and have them quote you a price using the car or using the money CarMax offered you as a down payment.

I hate shopping for cars. Good Luck.
Any dealer will take in your car as a trade in.

However, some recommend that you DO NOT mention you have a trade in car until you have agreed to a price for the new car. Why? Well some dealers will factor in the trade in when negotiating the price of the new car.
No you don't have to go to a Toyota Dealer. Whatever dealer ship you go to will take your car as a trade in if its in good condition. They will put your trade in on the used lot to sell or offer it in one of their auctions. However you might get more for your car if you sell it on your own. I use to work at a dealership and this is what would happen. Good Luck with your new car!
You can trade in a bicycle at a dealership, if they think it will help make a deal (someone actually did this at my old dealership!)

You WILL get more money selling it yourself. Dealers buy at low bluebook values and sell at high. Why cheat yourself out of the difference? Since it is a '95 Corolla, you won't get much from a dealer I am afraid, even if it is in great shape. It is older, and a common car. Just put an ad in the paper, or on craigslist, you will see what people will pay pretty quick.
you can sell it as a private seller or trade it in ,either way will work on that one,any dealer will take any car as a trade in but you,ll get more money from selling it as a private seller,a dealer wont give you what the car is worth they never do,i think if it was me id try and sell it on my own then buy what i wanted,or just go ahead and buy it and sell the used one after you buy the other one,a 95 model will sell good, good luck with it hope this helps.
you can but most likely they will offer you less than the Kelly's Blue Book value of your car, when if you try to sell it by yourself you could get a better deal.
Sure! They will take it. All or 99.9 will take in any make, Just understand when you trade something in you are basically giving it to them because a trade in results in them sticking to their top dollar asking or retail price. So i would keep the car and sell it outright to someone and then you can negotiate with them on the one you want. GOOD LUCK!!!
you can trade any car at any dealer anytime.

What grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade?

I am thinking about purchasing a 2002 toyota sienna, just want to see what type of gas is recommended by toyota. What grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade? The 2002 Toyota Sienna is suggested to run off of 91 octane fuel. Thats the fuel used when testing is done for horsepower, torque and fuel economy. The engine's computer and senors will adjust to using 87 octane with no problems and honestly you will probably never notice a difference, especially if you use a high quality fuel. Good Luck!!What grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade?
it takes 87 octaneWhat grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade?i own a repair shop, and that one will run really good on 87 octane ,there's no need to buy the expensive stuff for it,because it wont help it any at all ,that's kind of good to,this means you don't have to worry about getting the good stuff,Toyota is building all there cars to run good on 87 octane and so is Nissan, good luck,i hope this help,s.What grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade?
welll lets say this.... 87 is trash gas ....if you buy 7 dollars worth of 87 and 7 dollars worth of 91 ... guess what... they last the same but 91 is better for motor.... if you dont believe me try it and find out.... what ever you do ... dont goto arco, valera, or thrifty gas stations(more trash gas).... but look for them to see if cheveron , shell, 76 or mobil is across the street to arco, valera, and thrifty.. that way you get good gas at trash gas prices... the common misconception is that yes all gas come from the same off shore refineries, but when they goto the company refineries, additives are added thus making them different.... when i had my car, i used only cheveron 91 octane, a buddy of mine borrowed my car and ran it dry then refilled it with arco and a day later with the arco gas my motor took a dump on me... ever since then .. i did a fuel flush and kept to cheveron 91 and it's been a champ!!!!What grade gasoline does a 2002 Toyota Sienna run on? Official websites that has the recommended gas grade?Top Tier 91 is recommended, but Top Tier 87 is acceptable.

04 Toyota Tacoma Why does the ignition make a ticking noise when being started?

So my truck hasn't been drivin in a couple of months; I had to jump it off; let it run for a couple of minutes, drove it home. Then I turned it off %26amp; tried to turn it back on %26amp; it made a ticking noise. So it wouldn't turn on. The lights and everything come on but the battery light %26amp; check engine light comes on also.

So what can I do? Do I need to charge it longer, or do I need a new Battery?04 Toyota Tacoma Why does the ignition make a ticking noise when being started? When you parked for 2 to 3 moths was the battery good? How old is the battery? (More then 3 1/2 to 4 years Replace it).

The alternator is not made to fully charge a dead battery, you need to remove it and put it on a charger for 6 to 10 hours. NOTE; when you have to jump start a car you need to keep Radio, a/c, lights (off if day time) off while you drive so everything the alternator puts out go to the battery.

With a good or new battery in the car the battery should12V to12.5V with the engine off, 13.6V to 14.4V with the engine running and that will show you if the alternator is working properly.

Lights or no lights, the clicking is a weak or dead battery.04 Toyota Tacoma Why does the ignition make a ticking noise when being started?I would reccomend going to an auto parts store and have them check the battery. The battery would need more than a couple of minutes to charge up completly. Your best to just get a new battery, yours might be past recovery.04 Toyota Tacoma Why does the ignition make a ticking noise when being started? It sounds like your spark plug wires are leaking ( spark jumping out of the wire) or maybe some one pulled them off the plugs for you. I wouldn't think wires on an 04 would go bad that quick. To check it try to start it in the dark. Have some one crank the engine and you watch the engine and if you see sparks jumping every where you need new wires.

It's normal for the battery and check engine lights to be on because the engine isn't running. If it would start they go out.

Ops, I missed the part where you said you had to jump it to start it. That sounds like the battery is worn out. If you drove only a short distance home it may not have had time to charge the battery. If it was a long distance you need a battery. Jump it again and get it running. If the battery light goes out you need a battery. If the battery light stays on you need an alternator.04 Toyota Tacoma Why does the ignition make a ticking noise when being started?
your battery is in a state of discharge......it must be charged...with a slow charger...until fully charged.....then a battery breakdown test must be done to determine if it,s still good.........check with a volt meter......after charging....must read at least 12 or 12.5 volt,s minimum.

I doubt that it is the steering wheel lock (those are pretty fool proof) but I suspect there's something in the steering system that's fetching up, and that's not good. Why does my toyota camry le steering wheel lock while im driving?Christ, that's scary! Is it the steering wheel lock or is it in the front end components? Knowing that will help us narrow it down for you.Why does my toyota camry le steering wheel lock while im driving?i think, your steering collum has a knuckle between the collum and the wheels and some times those knuckles get bad, or it can also be Your rack and pinion going bad loosing power steering pressure.. both are not cheap fixing.. good luckWhy does my toyota camry le steering wheel lock while im driving?

Is it necessary to service the ac evaporator of my 2000 Toyota sienna if there's no cooling problem/?

There are two coils in your A/C System.

One is the Condenser, it is in front of the rad, it CAN get clogged with dirt, bugs, etc...

Second is the Evaporator, this is somewhere in between the dash and firewall of your car.

I can't see the Evaporator being dirty, I've taken lots out, and they've never seemed dirty enough to warrant cleaning them.

If, on the other hand, you're talking about the Condenser, then it could be dirty, but you could just take a garden hose and spray it down, after all, it should be in plain view when you pop the hood.

Just my take on it.Is it necessary to service the ac evaporator of my 2000 Toyota sienna if there's no cooling problem/?no benefit at all, dealer just wants your money, evaporator coils hardly ever get dirty, hope that helps. Is it necessary to service the ac evaporator of my 2000 Toyota sienna if there's no cooling problem/?Evap. cores can get clogged with bugs and mud. This will decrease the performance and cooling of the refrigerant.

How many of you have avoided buying a Toyota because it has "TURD" written on the side?

I would avoid buying a Toyota regardless of what sticker it had.How many of you have avoided buying a Toyota because it has "TURD" written on the side?
Must be one of those cultural things Toyota missed kind of like when Chevy sold the Nova in Mexico.

    I wouldn't buy a Toyota regardless.
More embarrasing driving a bone non-TRD stock truck...

Have you heard of Decal remover, by 3M?
TRD lets everyone know that your truck has the best equipment that the factory makes on it. How many other manufacturers and going to let you start supercharging trucks/cars without voiding the waranty. On the trucks you get the electronic locking rear differential with the TRD package. You probably drive some other brand of auto and think you are clever for saying that TRD is "TURD". You are far from clever and should try doing something else with your life because clever is not working for you.

What good tuner engine could fit a 1998 toyota corolla?

I have a 1998 toyota corolla and no engine i want to make it in to a tuner car but i do not know what engine could fit and be a very good tuner engine. What good tuner engine could fit a 1998 toyota corolla? The USDM Corollas will not accept a 4A-GE only the JDM models came with an A-series engine. The U.S. Corollas used the 1ZZ-FE, a direct replacement for this engine would be the 2ZZ-GE out of a Celica GT-S made between 2000-2005 it has a good aftermarket support, and is capable of decent amounts of power.

If you arent in the U.S. then you need to determain if your car came with an A-series engine, the available options in Japan were the 4A-GE and the 4A-FE. If thats the case then look for a 20 valve 4A-GE or a 4A-GZE. However I suspect you are in the U.S. If that is the case then you need the 2ZZ-GE, you could bolt in a 4A-GE however it makes less power than the ZZ powerplant and will require much more work as the mounts are somewhat different.

    4A-GE (16 Valve) - 112 hp

    4A-GE (20 Valve) - 160 hp

    4A-GZE (Supercharged) - 145 hp

    1ZZ-FE (Non-VVT) - 120 hp

    1ZZ-FE (VVT) - 125 hp

    2ZZ-GE (VVTLi) - 180 hp

In case you dont know VVT = Variable Valve Timing

VVT-i = Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence

VVTL-i = Variable Valve Timing with Lift and Intelligence

2ZZ-GE's come with a short ratio six speed transmission (a C60) in the Celica, the Corolla also uses a C-series transmission so they will interchange. What good tuner engine could fit a 1998 toyota corolla?Any 4AG engine will make a difference. The venerable 4A-GE is a great starting point. There's also the 4A-GZE, supercharged engine and the 4AG-20, 20-valve engine is a wonder to behold!! These engines are the Corolla's answer to the Civics B-series. They are performance twin cam and with the exception of the AG-20, these are 16 valve motors. What good tuner engine could fit a 1998 toyota corolla? It doesn't matter in the end, a Corolla isn't much of a platform. Your money is better spent on a different car, especially an engines worth. What good tuner engine could fit a 1998 toyota corolla?
Sell it and buy something that will hold a Chevy V8. It's got more performance potential than any engine in the world.

Just how good is the new 2010 Toyota Prius? And is it out yet like in the dealerships?

Dad is going to buy the new Toyota Prius that I recommended him because he likes Japanese cars and quietness and comfort. Prius owners, please tell me about your experience with this prized car that gets 50mpg.Just how good is the new 2010 Toyota Prius? And is it out yet like in the dealerships?I have a 2005 Prius and I love it. It is fun to drive and gets me about 45 mph (which is why I bought it). I am a big beautiful woman and I fit very comfortably as does my 6'6" man friend! I also often carry a child in the backseat in a car seat and he never complains! There are so many extras but the 2010 is just mind blowing w all the extras! I want one! They are available in the dealerships now (as an owner I get updates and just got one 2 days ago that they are available at my dealership).

You can purchase the package that has this cool sensor and steering combo that can practically parallel park itself! I can haul stuff w the seats down in back or I can cover what I am carrying w the shade in back.

It is very, very quiet...lol...once I left the car on for 6 hours while I did something else. I had forgotten to lock it and hadn't turned it off because I didn't hear it running! It didn't use any gas during that time and the battery wasn't drained either! It has a mechanism built in to the auto-lock so you can't lock it running though. But the 2010 has a special thingy that allows you to start it from outside the car while locked so that it can warm up or cool off for you! Plus it has a solar powered cooling system that you can set to keep the car from getting hot on hot days.

The only thing I don't like is the stupid spoiler on the back that limits rear vision and is made of plastic so ppl are tempted to push on it to close the back end and it breaks.

The 2010 though has a back-up camera and better mirrors so you can see all around the car...way cool.

    I want one.

1984 Toyota Tercel will only idle with accelerator fully depressed?

My 1984 Toyota Tercel 4WD Wagon will start, but will only idle(rather roughly) with accelerator fully depressed. Occasionally the revs will start to build, emitting large amounts of black smoke from exhaust pipe.

I have replaced fuel filter and fuel pump (thanks Daddio-T!), but still no results.

This car sat for a few years without being driven, but had the gas tank flushed out and has been running for about a year and a half. Help!1984 Toyota Tercel will only idle with accelerator fully depressed?black smoke is a fuel thing so either its lack of or too much.. what might be best for it it to have the fuel system flush somewhere like jiffy lube or quick lube place many shops can do it something you can not do for it has much as it needs a bottle of fuel treament will not help you much1984 Toyota Tercel will only idle with accelerator fully depressed?Maybe it needs a new alternator? I had the same problem with a previous car.1984 Toyota Tercel will only idle with accelerator fully depressed?you might want to consider an IAC valve, there very common on older models toyotas, i worked at toyota for 6 months and now at lexus for 2.5 years, the black smoke doesnt pertain to anything burning, just the carbon being displaced.

ps get a oil change too, wouldnt hurt to redrain and fill it again to flush it out1984 Toyota Tercel will only idle with accelerator fully depressed?
it sounds like your not getting fuel to the engine or have a weak fuel pump pull off the supply line to the engine and see how much is making it

How good are the 80's toyota trucks?

I'm looking for a good, cheap, reliable pickup, that still looks good, and gets decent gas mileage. And I'd prefer one that's lifted a little, and would also prefer a 4X4. I've seen a few old toyotas around on craigs list for around $1000 that seem to be in good condition despite the miles. And according to this fuel economy website, they get very good gas mileage, so I'm just wondering a few things.

    1. Do they still have decent power?

    2. Does lifting the truck lower gas mileage?

    3. When a truck is lifted, does it reduce the power at all, pushing those bigger tires?

    4. If something does break, is it still easy to find parts, and are they relatively cheap?

    5. How long do the big tires, or boggers last on the road, and are they real expensive to replace?

    6. What's the biggest thing I need to watch out for buying a truck like that?

    7. Do you think for what I'm looking for, an old toyota is my best bet, or something else? How good are the 80's toyota trucks?u might want to check the engine first if it says 18R on front of engine stay away from those they are seriously underpowered - go with 20R engine . 22R engine was first introduced to toyota trucks in 87 to 88 and they are one of the best and powerful engines to have and for lifting no not by much but if u change the tire size yes it can it can lose some of the power if u are still thinking of putting big tires on u might have to change the axle ratio and parts some parts are still cheap but others are reasonably priced and widely available and u might want to keep mud tires or boggers off the road as much as possible they wear out fast !!! or you can do is get some extra rims and put big tires on it so u can use them when u want to play around in but keep your regular set of tires to use on roads and u might want to check the cab for rust especially on the floorboards because if there is alot of rust the floor board support can collapse and and the cab would feel like they are not attached to the truck anymore(had that happen to me and it is alot of work to fix it right) and make sure there is no rattling noise of the engine at idle(just after tap the pedal to rev it lightly)if there it is it might need a new timing chain tensioner or a new timing chain set. timing chain set about 120 bucks but alot of laborHow good are the 80's toyota trucks?
Toyotas run forever....if you take care of them.

a friend of mine had an 80's truck and when he sold it,it had almost 300,000 miles on it.

some of the bodies tend to rust out easy.

the bigger tires will hurt the performance a little, the 4 cylinder wasn't made to pull that much weight.i wouldn't go to big.

i don't think toyota has ever made a bad car......dependable.....and this is coming from a diehard mopar guy,How good are the 80's toyota trucks? The 22RE engine was a good engine. I wouldn't get carried away too much with the modifications. Those make your truck non-standard and some shops don't like to work on modified vehicles. If you distort the truck design too much, you run into steering, computer, speedometer, tire noise, transmission drive shaft and other problems. Some modifications are not legal for road use. It may look good, but you pay the price in everyday repair and maintenance problems. I would buy an unmodified truck and go from there so you can make your own mistakes and not buy somebody else's mistakes they want to sell out from under. How good are the 80's toyota trucks?

  • When is the best time to buy a car for saving my money (Toyota clearance model 2007)?

As you know rigth now some dealer off price up to couple thousand dollars for each model year 2007 for Toyota. I dodn't know buy model 07 during this year or wait until next year. Which one I can save my money when I buy a car model 07?When is the best time to buy a car for saving my money (Toyota clearance model 2007)?Here is the Issue. That 2007 depreciates at a rate of 2% of List price a month from introduction (usually october) so if the car lists for 25,000 its value is dropping about $500 a month. It is now August. So unless you can get about $6000 off list it is not a good deal. In todays market unless you like wasting money I would buy a 2-3 year old Camery like program car or a off lease unit. Let some one else pay for all that depreciation a car goes through in the first 2 years. If your hell bent on having a new car get a one when they first come out in the fall and don't buy a left over you never really get that great a deal on a left over and the selection is limited. Also do not get financing more the 48 months 60 at the most. If you follow these rules you will never be in a position to have a car worth less then your payoff. This, in the industry, is called being "UP-Side Down" in the car. Here is a senario I have seen time and time again. You go to a dealer, you think you have such a great deal, you got a loan for (0) down. You have a real low payment for 72 months or (6) years. In two years you have an accident and total the car not even your fault. Could be hit while its parked or even stolen. The insurance company gives you NADA retail for the car. One major problem. The lending company will not turn over ownership to the car to the insurance company untill you pay off the difference on the loan. Many times this difference is thousands of dolllars. Now you have no car and still have a loan to pay. DO NOT GET A EXTENDED TERM LOAN, GET A CHEAPER CAR. Your car payment should not be any more then 1/2 of one weeks NET pay. So if your making 500 a week your payment should not be anymore then about $220 a month. Also your payment should be a minimum of what the car actually depreciates per month plus the loan interest. Most Toyotas, Honda's and some Nissans depreciate 1.78% of list a month most other foreign cars its 2.25% and american cars are 2.5-2.78% of list a month. So if you buy a $25,000 camery with (0) down your payment should not be less then $500 a month. If you buy a $40,000 Caddy with (0) down the payment should be no less then $1100 a month. If you can't afford those numbers then you should be buying a cheaper car. Naturally if you put money down then the numbers drop as well. Take the $$ down divide it by the loan term and subtract that number from my monthly payment guidelines. If have further questions on this feel free to contact me direct. When is the best time to buy a car for saving my money (Toyota clearance model 2007)?The end of each month is a good time to buy a car because many of the lots want to get rid of their inventory. Also just before Christmas or the beginning of a new year.

Just before Christmas is slow, and the beginning of the year the new models are coming out and they want to get rid of the older ones. Pick Fridays to set up a deal on a car you may be interested in.

Fridays are usually good days for most because of the weekend coming up. Even though car salesmen work hard and on commission and most weekends they still go out for drinks and have a good time ... so pick that Friday if you can.

Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?

I want to get a 358 CID pushrod Toyota TRD motor to put in my 68 Camaro, I'm going to go through the car and upgrade it. I want to ensure it has the best V/8 engine ever built. Anyone know where I can get one?Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?HAHAHAHAHAHA.. From TRD.. Toyota Racing Development.. So unless your name is MWR, or JGR I don't think you'll be on the list of approved customers..

You see when Toyota was invited into the NASCAR family, they couldn't meet the requirement of using a factory supplied cast iron block.. No foundry in Japan was equipped to make one.. So NASCAR said to forget it, and don't worry about the casting.. Also here are the specs for our next generation engine.. We'll give you a head start on that, so you won't have to develop two engines.. Good luck getting the engine.. My guess is passing emission tests will cost you as much as the engine, if you get it..

Edit: Nope, it takes more than a NASCAR license.. Hendrick Motor Sports ain't gettin' their hands on one of these babies..Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?
You can get TRD valve covers if you want them, but that's about it.. lol

Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?Um yeah. The real question is WHY do you want to ruin a perfectly good AMERICAN hot rod? As far as finding one well you will probably have to do buy a Toyo motor and do some major mods to it. For example the motor mounts my not line up right with the from, or the tranny my not fight properly which can cause several problems. Instead of spending all the money on all that, why not, just buy 572 c.i. with 500+ h.p. for around 10 grand, and be able to smoke any ricer that comes your way (don't be a fool and race it on the streets). I have 1965 Chevelle that has one and let me tell you it is one heck of feeling getting tossed back in the seat when you mash the gas. If you keep it all GM/Chevy you will get more on resell. I am not saying you have a bad idea. I myself have restored several cars including Camaros. and I am always looking for unique, never been done ideas. I respect the fact that you want to do something different, and encourage you to do so.

There several others ways to make your car unique. I suggest going on google and searching for custom Camaros. You can do a lot with a welder and some sheet metal. Custom paint is Always an eye turner. Ghost flames are one of my favorites. Remember to take your time when doing any type custom work on your car. If rush into I can almost guarantee that you will have problems down the road. I have done this myself and literally had problems down the road.
I thought you had a Supra? Did it break down like Toyotas so commonly do? Or did it rust in half, another trait of Toyoduh vehicles.

    Mr. Hater,

You do realize your boy Kyle has a '69 numbers matching Camaro don't you? Even he doesn't think so highly of Toy motors.Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine? He's only trying to get a rise out of us Chevy guys. He doesn't even have a 68 Camaro, if he even has a driver's license.

If Toyota has the best pushrod V8, they wouldn't have had to copy the specs from a small block Chevy.Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?
how dare you come into junior nation and say harm to dale jr and the nation... that is not cool and you know how i know it is you the pic the name and the car and the kyle busch so great crap.... gorw up already and stay out of our HOME! that dale built for us!
Pffft. '68 Camaro's came with the best V8 engine ever built. Toyota's only come with glorified lawn mower engines.Where can I get a 358 CID Toyota pushrod Engine?
you should put an aluminum block fuel injected Corvette motor in your chevy.
    The last I heard

they are around a $100,000 each in running shape

And you have to have a Na$car license to even buy one
    Autozone
When it comes to small blocks and big blocks small blocks suk !!
    A 358 is a bored out 350..060 I think.

Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry?

Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry that has about 151,000 miles on it.Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry?Yes, if your oil pump, main bearings, engine oil seals and gaskets are in good condition. For a 92 with 150k miles, we can only guess at the conditions of these engine parts. Unless we look at an oil pressure gauge with various grades of oil.

Most synthetic oils are rated 5w20 or 0w20. These oils are extremely thin, they will leak past your oil seals more easily than would a thicker 10w30. I say try it, but if your oil pressure gauge reads too low or the oil light comes on, or if you find you're more than a quart low at the next oil change, you might consider switching to a heavier grade of oil.

I drive an 86 Toyota MR2 with 225k miles, and synthetic would not be appropriate for me. The reason is, with 225k miles my main bearings are somewhat worn, and no longer hold up oil pressure as they did when they were new. When I use lower viscosity oils, the oil pressure reads too low on the gauge, especially with the engine hot. I get good results with 20w50.Is it ok that I use synthetic oil on my 1992 Toyota Camry?it is not recomended that you do that.See the problem is,Is that synthetic oil is a super lube it will find every oil leak possiable in the engine. You should really concider a high miliage motor oil like a castrol brand or a valvoline brand.

What is the cost of a front axel for a toyota camry le?

front axel on my toyota camry is broken only on the driver's side. Wanting to know what would be the cost or the estimate cost for the axel. What is the cost of a front axel for a toyota camry le?It depends on where you buy it, from Toyota dealer or small parts dealer? Buy reman or brand new? OEM or after market?

I see some repair shop's ad stating $150 installed.

But an OEM axel at a Toyota dealer sells over $300.

Some small parts dealers sell axels for about $50-70.

Good luck. What is the cost of a front axel for a toyota camry le?Check with a foreign auto parts dealer, in addition to the regular parts places. They are half of what the dealership will charge you. The CV shaft should be around 200 dollars or so less core charge.

  • Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?

My girlfriend is about to purchase a new car and has narrowed it down to the 2010 Mazda 3 or the Toyota Corolla. Taking everything into consideration, which of these two cars is the overall best?

We've been to both dealerships and the price for both is right around the $15,200 mark. Is that a good price?Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?Corolla's a great car...well built, high fuel economy, reliable...and the styling is much improved on the previous models. But it's pretty boring to drive. Like the first answerer said, it is more or less an appliance to get you where you need to go.

If you can get over the overwrought front end styling of the '10 Mazda(exactly the opposite of the Toyota, the earlier 3's are much prettier style wise), the 3 is the more dynamic driving experience of the two.Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?
Mazda 3 is much better in terms of overall driving satisfaction. It is quick, precise, good on gas, dependable, with great styling and interior materials.

Toyota Corolla is nothing special, just another plain car to take you from point A to point B.Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla? Both are reliable. The Mazda 3 has a better style, but the Corolla has better gas mileage and overall reliability (Toyota in General). However, it'd pick a 3 over a Corolla anyday.Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?
I would definitely get the Mazda due to style, handling, performance, and the Corolla though practical is just so mundane. Live life! Why drive a lame car when you can drive a cool one?Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?i would say mazda3, its a little sportier and funner to drive. but you sacrifice better mpg compared to the corolla.Buying a new car, which is best 2010 Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla?
    I like Toyota myself.
I say get a WRX STi

What's the best car cover for a Toyota Corolla 2007 model against hot weather?

    Hi,

I have a 2007 model of a Toyota Corolla car and I need a car cover that suits hot climates. Any idea about the best cover for my car?

Much appreciated,What's the best car cover for a Toyota Corolla 2007 model against hot weather?Full covers are always hot - they turn the car into a hot house. The most effective way to deal with really hot climates is to open the windows a bit to allow ventilation and put sun shades in the windshield and the rear window. I like the type that twist into a small flat packet like the first source, but anything that is convenient enough for you to actually use is good.

I lived in Phoenix for 27 years and I am very impressed by how much those two things - a bit of ventilation and the sun shades - can cool the car down. Of course, if you can't leave the windows down a bit then you may as well use a conventional car cover - any light colored one will do.What's the best car cover for a Toyota Corolla 2007 model against hot weather?Garage...What's the best car cover for a Toyota Corolla 2007 model against hot weather?k

Why is there a smear campaign against Toyota?

There are lots of cars with worse issues on a wider scale than Toyota's acceleration issue which is very rare. Yet every news outlet is trashing Toyota and scaring people from buying it! Is it so they buy American cars instead? Seems a little shady. I hope Toyota fights back and doesn't get intimidated. Why is there a smear campaign against Toyota?Because they are pushing genetal motors. Sure now they do all the coverage on the very few (8) fatal incidents. At least Toyota owned up to it, and is recalling and apologizing like a man. In the 90s when fords spontaniously combusted, ford said sorry, did they recall and halt? NO! Early Chevys diesel trucks are rare almost extinct, they didnt recall there trucks or appologize for there flaw in engine design. Mhh?

And to those people who say buy american, All toyotas trucks and some suvs are made in America, Its there cars that are imported. And if i recall correctly Gerneral Motors,Ford, and Chrystler(who was german company) did the exact same thing and only built gas guzzlers and imported eco friendly cars rebaged under there brand before the bail out.Why is there a smear campaign against Toyota?
it is now toyota's turn they were the god almighty car maker nothing ever wrong with them now they have major problems and didn't do anything about it for almost a year so americans can say go buy u.s so toyota deserves it nowWhy is there a smear campaign against Toyota?Toyota has a great car, and a great reputation. But they apparently overlooked this issue, or were in denial about it, until it just mushroomed, and the media jumped on it because a good scandal gets readers and viewers, and sells newspapers and TV ad time.

Yeah, some of the media probably want to push US-made cars, and some just want to take a poke at Toyota. But accusing "every news outlet" of this is a fairly simplistic and naive outlook.
Seems a little shady to sell any non american made car here

where you cant buy the same there for less that is shady

and there is about a million people that wil tel you same thing

that one Toyota cost your family a job food a life but you got a cheaper car

one car sold here but a 100 americans at home a little shady

if anything price should be twice as high as a ford or chevy just to ship it here or make it here

great cars sure great for americans never

your moms your dads your aunts and uncles brothers and sisters

All thank you for taking their jobs away

a little shady? not even close

but your right it is a minor problem just a major recall of cars

buy American products to feeds Americans to keep America moving

Seems a little shady to have sold them here at allWhy is there a smear campaign against Toyota? There is NO smear campaign against Toyota! Toyota refused to admit its problems for years and its coming back to bite them. The Government has been pushing them to address this problem since 2007 to no avail. This is what happens when you try to sweep something under the rug!

Toyota has been very deceitful on this entire issue even to point of blaming its customers for its flaws. It took 19 deaths and 100s of accidents before the US government insisted there be a recall!

Toyota wont fight back, They know they are wrong! That is why they came on television and apologized! That is all they have left, apologies! Why is there a smear campaign against Toyota?
im thinking the same thing, yet the media still feeds this hype to the public,if they are so bad why are they still on the roads, why is ford and nissan using toyota thec on there cars?it just so happens this buy american thing is around the same time,,Honda just recalled fits cause they can just catch on fire, why isn't the world making a big deal on that,i would rather a car that moves on its own than lighting up,also there has only been 5 reported cases on this toyota recall, only 5 i mean every year there are thousands of sticking pedal issues from every car company,so why,its media hype and alot of gullible owners out there
There is no smear campaign. Toyota is an Oriental brand. Oriental brands are always inferior to American brands.

The End.Why is there a smear campaign against Toyota?
Toyota has value engineered themselves into this position. THen,denial and slow response to very serious problems exacerbated the situation..Even now,the response and openness is underwhelming.

Toyota Celica is black exterior, black leather interior. It has 140,000 miles, taking into consideration that it just got a new transmission with 40,000 miles. I tried using Carmax's online website that gives you an online estimate but it didn't have my model as an option. How much would Carmax give me for my Toyota 01' Celica GT?I don't understand why people sell their cars to Carmax. Why not just put an add in the paper?

Why not just estimate here: www.kbb.com

No reason AT ALL to waste your time going to Carmax. How much would Carmax give me for my Toyota 01' Celica GT?It's a wholesale car for them. They can't resell it on their lot, too old. Look at www.kbb.com at the trade in value. It will be around the Fair or Good price for trade in. I would not expect much more than that.

The new trans will not help you with the price but it won't hurt. The new trans helps when you sell it to a private party.

When will the 2010 toyota camry be available?

Lately my 1991 Toyota Camry has been having troubles so I'm going to buy a new car within this year and I'm leaning towards a 2009 Camry SE. However I'm not sure if I should wait a little longer for the 2010 edition.

My question is, does anyone know what month the 2010 Toyota Camry edition will be available? When will the 2010 toyota camry be available? The 2010 Camry LE's are already on their way in. My store is due to receive two next week. The SE's won't be built for a little while though. Plenty of 09's around with good incentives. The only major change between the model years is that stability control will now be standard on all models. Cosmetically, it's the same car. Hope this helps.

Correction...Here are some of the changes:

    Product Change Summary

    New L4 Engine/Transmission:

    Camry will have a new upgraded standard powertrain for 2010. A new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) will produce 169 hp for Camry, LE and XLE grades. For sporty performance the SE grade gets additional tuning (including dual exhaust) for 179 horsepower, which is 21 more horsepower than the previous four-cylinder engine. The new engine can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift on Camry, LE, and SE grades. It鈥檚 not only about performance as fuel economy is improved as well with MPG for the manual transmission at 22/33 and automatic transmission at 22/32. {The 3.5-liter V6 delivering 268 horsepower will continue to be available on LE, SE and XLE grades.}

The Camry Hybrid will continue to be equipped with Toyota's industry-leading Hybrid Synergy Drive and is certified as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV). The Camry Hybrid is just one of a handful of cars that meets this strict standard, producing over 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than the average new car.

    Safety:

Toyota鈥檚 STAR Safety System is now standard on all Camry models and features ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with traction control (TRAC) off switch and Brake Assist. Camry has a total of seven airbags, including a driver鈥檚 knee airbag, driver and front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags.

    Exterior:

Exterior changes to the gas model Camry include a newly designed grille and front bumper, an enlarged lower intake, larger projector headlamps and restyled LED tail lamps. The SE also gets redesigned front and rear under bumper spoilers and side rocker moldings that give it a more aggressive and sporty look. The Camry and LE grades feature restyled standard wheel covers. The XLE grade will run on new 16-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, while the SE grade adds new 17-inch sporty alloy wheels.

The Camry Hybrid exterior enhancements will include a unique hybrid grille, a distinct front bumper, a wider lower intake, restyled fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels, all of which help to differentiate the hybrid from the gas models. When will the 2010 toyota camry be available?
It probably won't be out until mid 2010. I saw a preview of it on Toyotanation.com and honestly it doesn't look that much different from the 2009 model. I would just go ahead and get the 2009 SE, you'll probably get a good deal and besides it's never good to get a redesigned model as soon as it comes out because the bugs haven't been straightened out yet

The power steering pumpMy toyota pickup makes a whining noise what is it?you say that you don't hear it when in neutral and rev the engine. if you are not moving at that time i would say the the noise could be coming from the wheels or drive shaft. A wheel bearing or axle bearing that is going bad will make a whining noise. A u joint in the drive shaft will make a whining noise when it is going bad as well. some type tires such a mud grips make a whining noise as the roll over the highwayMy toyota pickup makes a whining noise what is it?

Do I need shock absorbers for my toyota?

I have a 2002 toyota and has 155K miles on it. While driving I can feel every little bump on the road. I am wondering what do I need to repair, the shock absorbers or what is needed. I do tire rotation and balancing every 3k miles during oil change.Do I need shock absorbers for my toyota?Shocks have a life of about 50 thousand miles. If you have more than that on them, change them.

Can't give an estimate of price till I know what kind of Toy you have, if you need springs, upper strut mounts, etc.

Best to go to a repair shop for an estimate.Do I need shock absorbers for my toyota?Well you definitely have the right idea, with that mileage the first thing your gonna want to do is change your shocks. If you Toyota is bouncing excessively I can guarantee that the problem your having is coming from your shocks. Tire rotations and balancing will only help your tire life so that the tires wear evenly and so the vehicle does not vibrate excessively on the road.

  • Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?

I have personally always thought that toyota was always the best people's car manufacturer. However when my Hyundai Elantra was in for a repair, I was given a mitsubishi colt service vehicle. It was the most comfortable, convenient car I had ever driven. I previously thought that the toyota corolla was the greatest car ever. However I now think that the colt has become better!

Are the other mitsubishi cars as good as the colt?

Is Mitsubishi moving up in the order of car manufacturers?

What is the greatest car manufacturer? Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota? No. Mitsubishi is still a car company running without much cash.

Their interiors, while comfortable, aren't necessarily made of top-notch materials, their manufacturing isn't to the same tight tolerances you'd find in a Honda or a VW.

As far as the "greatest" well, that means a lot of different things. BMW is pretty much seen as the best "Driver's Car" company, making cars that, while practical, have a sportiness to them that makes then very good "tools" for a skilled driver.

That said, many people view Audi as a sort-of "anti BMW." Very capable cars, but with a bit more technology distancing you from the simpleness.

Ferrari, without a doubt, has the most famous and storied race history, and they make some of the fastest, and street capable cars on the road or track, while Land Rover makes the best off-road trucks.

Lexus and Buick have very high manufacturing quality, and Chevy's are known for being very simple, but reliable as the sunrise. (the Corvette is the only really exciting car they make)

Geatest? Depends what you mean. My personal favorite is Aston Martin. Reasonable capable on the track, pretty luxusious, they sound fantastic (but not maybe to the people who love the whine of a Ferrari V8 running at 9200rpm), look terrific, and have a long history. Plus, they are more rare than, say, a Porsche 911 Turbo which may be a more capable track car, faster, etc...and has a long history as well, but they look the same as any other 911, so they don't "stand out."

That said, my next car will proably be a Mazda 3 SportHatch/Wagon. In it's class it's the best looking car, practical, and fun...again, within it's class. Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?
NoIs mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?Mitsubishi makes good cars and trucks, but the Toyota vehicle line is far better. Your "seat of the pants" opinion notwithstanding, the Toyota is by far a better car.

The entire Mitsubishi line is of similar quality, but I don't think they'll ever overtake Toyota, which is the JD Powers choice of "Best Manufactured" vehicles in the world. Thanks for the two points!

By the bye, the term "People's Car" should be reserved for Volkswagen, since that is the literal translation from German to English! Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?
the colt was one of the worst cars made dude, toyota isnt the number 1 seller when it comes to quality and resale, ITS HONDA... Mitsubishi will never reach hondas level but they have improved a lot over the years..Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?Mitsubishi is probably one of the lower manufacturers of Japanese Auto makers. Toyota Honda and Kia are your best bet. Honda's in turn of maintenance and longjevity is the very best!Is mitsubishi ascending to the top of car manufacturers like toyota?
Mitsubishi has gotten better, not even close to Toyota or Honda. Hyundai (sp) is also improving and if you believe the ads. Saturn is also getting better. I owned my one and only saturn so be careful with that one. The worst things on the market right out of the showroom are Kia's, they are total garbage.
Ha ha! Good one. Mitsubishi is getting more and more "American" every year. 3.8 V6 in the new Eclipse that nobody is buying? What is it, a Buick!? I've even heard that the Raider has a Dodge V8 in it.

    Mitsubishi makes Japan look bad.

I have a 1986 toyota van that quits running?

Ok my 86 toyota van will just stop running while i'm driving down the roat. I have done a complete tune up and changed the fuel filter. After sitting a few minutes it will restart. Any one have an Idea whats up. I put a new fuel pump in when I bought it in 2002. We have a 179,000 miles and uses no oil . Help I love this van.I have a 1986 toyota van that quits running?I have no idea why it quits running, but I'm sure it runs great whenever you have the mechanic standing next to it. That's the real issue...being ready to diagnose it when it fails.

I'm sure you'd be able to tell if it was fuel related as the engine is starved for gas, chokes a few times and dies. Yours sound more like an electrical problem, maybe a oxygen sensor sending the wrong data to the computer. I think I'd get one of the cheapest diagnostic tools I could find(on board computer reader) and keep it connected under the dash. Only you will be there when the van dies, and then you'll have data to share with the mechanic. Try JC Whitney.com for cheap automotive tools and good luck.

How do i make the beep beep silent on my toyota?

I drive a 2007 FJ Cruiser and I don't want it do beep everytime I unlock/lock the doors. I read in the manual and it said nothing about it. I have tried pushing both the unlock and the lock button at the same time like on the 4runners.

it doesn't use the horn, it beeps like a toyota not a chevy or GMC. i have tried holding down just the unlock button (didn't work) and then I tried holding down just the lock button (didn't work) and then I tried holding both down (didn't work)How do i make the beep beep silent on my toyota?Get "beeper going, - trace down location by sound, and unplug that annoying "sucker"! That is what I do with my cars. I save it and put it back in when getting rid of car so that next person can "enjoy it"! Be aware that it may "warn" you of more than one or two things not being up to "par", - however,-- it is another form of "idiot warning". For instance if it warns you the headlignts are on when you remove the key, you will have to be smart enough to turn them off without "warning"!

Even more annoying are the ones that "talk to you" incessently, if you are just sitting in seat and the key is in the ignition. If I'm not intending to go anywhere, - I don't need the seat blets on, and I don't need the thing sayng "put seat belts on" 300 times before I remove key and get out of the car!How do i make the beep beep silent on my toyota?Try a Toyota dealer and find out how, and if it is indeed possible

  • Why does a 1985 Toyota Celica alternator short out?

I want to get this little Toyota car, but I was told it keeps shorting out alternators. Can anyone tell me the reason why and is it worth while fixing? Why does a 1985 Toyota Celica alternator short out?just replace the wires connecting to the alternator from the battery. they are hidden and tight in there but that would be the only problem. also check the alternator to see if that's the problem. Why does a 1985 Toyota Celica alternator short out?probably a wire from the alt to the battery has worn thru the insulation and occasionally contacts ground. Check all wiring harnesses for wear

My friend want a Toyota after an operation?

A good friend of mine had to have a part of his brain removed due to a cancerous tumor and now that he has had a partial lobotomy he wants to go buy a Toyota. Is this common after a lobotomy ?My friend want a Toyota after an operation?Yes this is a very common syndrome. My cousin, who's Toyota Tacoma broke in two parts while driving, ran out and bought another Tacoma, after just having a full brain lobotomy. The doctors were simply amazed when after the operation, they asked him if he could recall all the toyota recalls. Mysteriously, he recalled none of them, and went straight out and bought a Camry as well, which ended up in a ravine after over-accelerating. Fortunately, even with his lobotomy, he was able to remember to jump out and escape injury before before the Camry went over. Now he's blaming the Toyota recalls on the media. My friend want a Toyota after an operation?
Not nearly as common as the sudden urge to use a domestic pickup as your everyday transportation. My friend want a Toyota after an operation?Yes, it's common after both a lobotomy and a sex change operation.
it's his life after all.My friend want a Toyota after an operation? It is only serious if he has a full lobotomy and wants to buy a Yugo.My friend want a Toyota after an operation?
All you have to do is shift into neutral if the accelerator gets stuck, it's no big deal.
The toyota is a good car and has a good ride quality so it should be ok for him to have. and the acelerator problem is nothing to really worry about.

just push up into neutralMy friend want a Toyota after an operation?
Could have been worse ................... he could have gone for an American car.
Lobotomies do not normally affect intelligence or reasoning so the two are probably unrelated events. However, this is a good time to buy a Toyota, when the price has been artificially driven down by public panic.

What double strollers fit in the back of a Toyota Scion XB?

I have a Toyota Scion XB, I have a toddler and a baby on the way, so I am looking at double strollers, but since my trunk is so small, I was wondering if anyone has experience fitting a double stroller in the trunk....What double strollers fit in the back of a Toyota Scion XB?Sorry, I don't have any experience in a small trunk. But what I would do is measure the inside space of your trunk and go to a baby/child shop (like Babys R Us) and ask someone who works there to fold up there double strollers and see if one is small enough to fit. Good luck and congratulations on your new baby. What double strollers fit in the back of a Toyota Scion XB?No because the size of that trunk is too small. Most double stroller fit in SUV or min Van only.
