i have driven a few toyota prius' and noticed that sometimes when putting it in reverse, a rear view camera appears on the display screen. was curious if it was a standard or not on all priuses. How do you access the rear view camera on the toyota prius?Just put the Prius in reverse. The camera will come on IF you have it.
It comes in the Prius with the package #2 through package #6.
Once in reverse, it comes on. Put the car in drive and it shuts off.
From your friendly Toyota Salesperson :)How do you access the rear view camera on the toyota prius? The reverse camera became a new feature available on Toyota Prius (with options, not the base model, but on the vast majority) starting with the 2006 model year (part of the minor redesign).

"A new rear back-up camera is now available as an option. The rear camera automatically projects an image of what the lens can detect behind the vehicle onto the dash-mounted LCD display monitor when the vehicle is in reverse gear."

shows that the backup camera is available only in certain option packages.
The reverse camera displays on the monitor when you shift into "R" (reverse). When you shift out of "R" (reverse) into another "gear," the display reverts to normal display.
