Can i work with poison ivy on my hands?

i work at a vocelli's pizza shop as a driver. i handle food all day long and deal directly with customers. ive had poison ivy for an extrememly long amount of time and i worked with it on my hands when it was dried up. now it came back worse than before and its fresh, and i called my boss 2 hours before my shift to call off because i don't want to spread it to anyone. he said i had to come in and wear gloves, i tried explaining to him that if i wear gloves my hands will sweat and the poison ivy will get everywhere and will spread and get even worse but he wasnt having that because theres a steelers game on and the shop was gonna be busy. i continued to refuse to work becuase i do not want to spread this around but i think my boss is to the point of firing me over it, what should i do?Can i work with poison ivy on my hands?
poison ivy has been labeled under contagious so it probably wouldn't be best for you to touch food that other people will be eating. your boss seems like a self centered jerk and he's probably a work freak type person i would contact his supervisor or the who ever is above him and file a complaint or take a sick day or personal day. i don't really know how the pizza industry works but i do know that its wrong to make a person with poison ivy making my food
Working with PI on your hands either when it is newly fresh or in process of drying up never is a good idea, but NOT for the reasons either you state or excuses you provide. Once you have an active case of PI rash, and you have washed and or bathed yourself, no longer can you transmit this to anyone

Most important is that you maintain diligence at keeping your rash especially on hands as clean %26amp; dry as possible, for you not to pick up an infectious germ that easily can be transmitted by others and enter your skin thru the open blisters.Post secondary infection next can set in make u very sick.

I had a simular problem. Put powder in the gloves and go to work. It's hard to call off when the Steelers are playing because the bosses always think its because you want to stay home and watch the game. If you don't go to work then go to the hospital. Here we go Steelers, here we go!Can i work with poison ivy on my hands?
no because you can possibly pass it over to coworkers and customers if you touch them and if ur boss wants to fire you wear gloves !
